SaaS spending keeps growing. Can you still see your own?

Spending on software keeps rising. The overview to manage it often doesn't keep up.

By 2028, more than 70% of organisations will manage their SaaS centrally, up from less than 30% today, Gartner forecasts. The shift is happening for a simple reason: without an overview, cost and risk pile up.

Yet most teams still can't see their own stack. The pattern is familiar: a team lead signs up for a tool, marketing starts a free trial that quietly converts to an annual plan, and a former colleague's account stays active long after they've gone.

Growth you can't manage if you can't see it

SMBs now run dozens of apps across finance, HR, CRM, marketing, collaboration and payments. That brings speed and flexibility, but also confusion, unnecessary cost and security risk. Per employee, SaaS spend has risen by roughly half since 2022, according to Gartner.

Gartner puts the upside simply: organisations that actively manage their SaaS spend can save up to 30%. For a company spending €50,000 a year on software, that's around €15,000 back in the budget. The catch is gaining the visibility to manage it in the first place.

The cost of not knowing

Without a clear overview, you can't answer basic questions:

  • Which tools are actually used?

  • Where do licences overlap?

  • When do renewals hit?

  • Where is money leaking?

That blind spot has a price: missed savings from duplicates and unused licences, higher risk from former employees with active access, wasted time digging through spreadsheets, and lost control, with no one really owning the stack.

Visibility leads to action

Bring everything into one current overview: apps, licences, users and costs. Only then can you see what's really happening in your stack, and act on it.

  • Reduce waste. Cancel unused licences and consolidate duplicates.

  • Improve security. Revoke access for people who left and flag unapproved apps.

  • Keep control. Know exactly what you pay for, and why.

  • Plan smarter. Budget accurately and negotiate from a position of knowledge.
